Instagram expands its reach to students with new app launch this Summer
Instagram is launching a new app to compete with Twitter, and it’s supposedly launching this summer. A top app for students, Instagram, is known for taking popular features from other platforms and incorporating them into its own platform.
This new app will give users a taste of Twitter and Instagram on one platform. Dive deeper for the rundown on the new app, and what students (and adults) can expect.
Keywords to know
- What is Instagram & what does it do? Instagram is a free photo and video-sharing app where users can upload photos or videos to share with their followers or just a select group of friends. Users can also view, comment, share, and like posts.
- What is Twitter & what does it do? Twitter is a free social networking site for users to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages, which can contain text, videos, photos, or links.
The Rundown
Currently, Instagram is testing the new app in secret with a select group of celebrities and influencers. With the recent changes to Twitter, people are suspected to be more inclined to switch apps or leave Twitter altogether.
What we know:
- The new app will be separate from Instagram, although people will be able to connect their accounts to transfer their contacts and followers over from Instagram to the new platform.
- The app contains a feed, and the ability to post text up to 500 characters with links, photos, and videos attached.
- Your privacy is still protected as it will also transfer over any accounts you’ve blocked on Instagram. The information on this app is limited, so stay up to date for more information to come!
