Our Core Values

At The Social Institute, we believe in playing to our core, and we recognize that the key distinction between achieving greatness vs. settling for mediocrity lies in how we approach our work: our Core Values. Together, our core values spell S O C I A L

Students First: Our top priority is always the health, happiness, and success of students. We place their needs and interests at the forefront of everything we do, ensuring that our actions and decisions are guided by what will benefit them the most.

Ownership: We believe in taking ownership of our job responsibilities and holding ourselves accountable for our everyday actions and words. Each of us recognizes the significance of our role and how it contributes to the overall company mission, strategy, and culture. Our goal is to perform at our best within a supportive and high-performing organization.

Creativity: At our core, we champion an environment that celebrates and nurtures creativity. We thrive on embracing new ideas, fresh perspectives, and groundbreaking approaches to problem-solving – and we believe that ideas can come from anywhere! With this creativity, we unlock boundless possibilities and achieve remarkable outcomes that leave a lasting impact.

Impact: Making a difference is at the heart of our mission. We are dedicated to creating an impact that extends beyond the classroom as we help schools teach long-lasting life skills. By empowering and equipping students, providing valuable, time-saving resources to teachers, and connecting the classroom experience to family life, we work to make an impact at every partner school.

Agility & Speed: In the ever-changing world of tech, we understand the importance of being adaptable and responsive to change. We know the path to success is not a straight line, and we recognize there will be times we need to pivot, innovate, and accelerate as needed to best support students. Examples of this value in action include:

Love of Learning: Education holds a special place in our hearts, and we deeply respect the vital role educators play in students’ lives. A genuine love for learning drives us, as we strive to create something truly exceptional for students. To achieve this, we actively seek knowledge and skills, welcoming feedback as a gift on our journey of continuous growth.

Our Everyday Fundamentals

Exceptional companies are built with exceptional teammates. Alongside our Core Values, which are the overarching principles that guide our decisions and actions, we have our TSI Fundamentals. These Fundamentals are centered around the everyday moments we experience, whether it’s collaborating with teammates, meeting project deadlines, or having performance conversations with our managers.

At our core, we firmly believe that everyone’s voice matters. That’s why, in 2023, all team members across the entire company – from Product (Engineering, Design, Lesson Development) and Go-To-Market (Sales, Partner Success, Marketing) to Operations (HR, Finance, Business Operations) – came together to co-create these Fundamentals. These 16 guiding principles embody what it means to be an exceptional team member at TSI, regardless of your department. They outline the way in which we aspire to interact with one another, ultimately fostering an incredible company culture that empowers each and every one of us to grow and thrive.

Our Fundamentals

  1. Voice: Embracing the importance of every individual’s voice.
  2. Excellence: Relentlessly pursuing greatness.
  3. Plus’ing: Continuously evolving, enhancing, and learning.
  4. Adaptable: Being willing to adapt and evolve as we continue to grow.
  5. Balance: Working hard and resting hard.
  6. Goal-driven: Setting our sights high and pursuing those ambitions with focus.
  7. Feedback: Embracing feedback as a gift for growth.
  8. Welcoming: Respecting others for who they truly are and celebrating our unique differences.
  9. Understanding: Seeking clarity by openly communicating and asking questions.
  10. Integrity: Upholding honesty and sincerity, and staying true to yourself and company values.
  11. Social: Building a sense of community and finding joy in-person and virtually.
  12. Solution-oriented: Embracing challenges with a positive mindset and sharing solutions.
  13. Fail fast: Swiftly learning from mistakes and using them as stepping stones to success.
  14. Collaborative: Working together to combine our strengths and deliver valuable outcomes.
  15. CTC (Control the Controllable): Taking ownership of our success by being proactive.
  16. Humility: Knowing there’s always more to learn, and embracing “I don’t know” as a valid answer.
