Student influencer Jiten Ruperelia shares his secret of staying motivated

One of the Seven Social Standards that The Social Institute believes in is: Finding Your Influencers. This means surrounding yourself with positive role models who support you and encourage you to play to your core. To help students find these positive and credible influences, we began our Student Influencer Program. Each week we select a different student to take over our Instagram and highlight how they act as a positive influence and inspiration in their communities.

This week we are excited to introduce Jiten Ruparelia. Jiten has been working at TSI as a sales operations intern since January of 2021 and is a student at NC State. At NC State, Jiten is a member of the University Activities Board where he orchestrates on-campus activities as well as manages collaboration with other organizations. In his free time, Jiten loves to bake pastries and brew various types of coffees.

Recently, we interviewed Jiten to learn more about him and how social media impacts his life. Here’s what he had to say:

What do you value about yourself or others?

Jiten: I value that we have passion. Individuals caring so much about something or someone is something that can drive people and motivate them to do great things, so I value the passion people have for work, school, and life itself.

What are your personal goals?

Jiten: My personal goals are to develop better skills in the professional world as well as create better connections with my peers.

How have you felt since returning to in-person school?

Jiten: I feel as if we still are not really back to normal, but it is nice seeing the beautiful NC State campus every week.

What are the things you try to accomplish each day?

Jiten: I try to be efficient with my time as well as try new recipes for dinner and desserts!

What or who inspires you most?

Jiten: Life inspires me. Being able to do what I can every day is a privilege, so I want to do the best I can with what I have.

How has social media acted as a positive influence on your life?

Jiten: Social media has allowed me to connect with friends and family that I may not have communicated with earlier in my life, and it now allows me to be closer with them. It also allows me to follow things and individuals that interest me.

Of our Seven Social standards, which one do you most resonate with and why?

Jiten: Use Your Mic for Good resonates with me the most because it speaks to a larger audience in saying that words can create change. Sometimes saying the right thing or something positive can go a long way in having an effect on the world.

If you could go back and talk to your younger self, what advice would you give to him about navigating social media or social relationships?

Jiten: I would tell myself to be safe and not be afraid of finding people that are similar to me because they would become lifelong friends.

We are so excited that Jiten has chosen to Use His Mic For Good through his work at TSI! We look forward to continuing to watch him create meaningful change for young students. If you know a student who is accomplishing great things, we want to highlight them! We love sharing impressive students with the world. Contact us here.
