Director of Product Development

Emma is the Director of Product Development at The Social Institute, where she project manages and leads cross-functional collaboration across engineering, design, product content, and the Student Ambassador Program to build innovative, student-centered solutions that power our platform. A former software engineer, she brings hands-on technical expertise to everything she does — from scoping features and mentoring teammates to occasionally jumping into the code herself. Her belief in the power of education and role as an educator fuels her work at The Social Institute, helping students navigate technology with confidence and character.

A proud graduate of Millersville University, she earned her Bachelor’s in Computer Science with Cum Laude honors. She will graduate in 2025 with a Master’s in Engineering with a focus on Engineering Management, with honors. She is also a certified Scrum Master and holds certification in Professional Agile Leadership.

Her experience spans both the consulting and software product industries, where she has managed large teams and complex initiatives, including work with Uber. Her product leadership is marked by strategic thinking, technical depth, and a passion for mentorship. Deeply committed to education, she teaches computer science part-time at Millersville University and leads a local program called ‘Girls Code Club’. For five years, she has coached over 200 girls, ages 8-13, through basic coding concepts in JavaScript, Ruby, and Python. She has also served as a role model speaker for high school girls interested in STEM at Millersville’s Women in Mathematics, Science, & Technology conference for 3 years running.

In 2024, she was named a “Marvelous Marauder” by Millersville University for her contributions to the university and community. In 2023, she was honored as a finalist for the “Next Generation” award by the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania, Women in Tech.
