Laurel Aguilar-Kirchhoff is a former secondary teacher who now serves as a university adjunct professor, digital learning specialist, and educational consultant. Laurel works to help make clear connections between history, civics, and community through educational technology. Her expertise includes educational law, digital citizenship/media literacy, curriculum instruction design, as well as EdTech and innovation in the classroom. Laurel holds a Master of Science Degree in Education, is a Google Certified Trainer, and Leading Edge Certified Online Blended Teacher. Laurel was named Inland Area CUE Administrator of the Year in 2022, and California Council for the Social Studies Higher Education Teacher of the Year in 2023. She is an International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Community Leader, as well as the Vice President of Events for Inland Area CUE. She is also the instructor for the ISTE U course: Digital Citizenship in Action. Her co-authored book, Bring History and Civics to Life: Lessons and Strategies to Cultivate Informed Empathetic Citizens, was published in 2022 by ISTE.
